ClearWELL™ treats a mix of halite and calcite in 16 US gas wells for three different operators.

27 February 2024

This round of ClearWELL™ installations in the US were targeted at treating a mix of halite and calcite in 16 gas wells for three different operators. The wells were located in Pennsylvania and Louisiana, areas commonly associated with halite deposition.

Halite, otherwise known as rock salt, can be a problem in wells due to its speed of deposition and its impact on production and downtime. It’s traditionally treated by continuously injecting fresh water but this poses issues in some locations in terms of obtaining the large quantities required plus treatment and disposal.

We’ve developed our knowledge and approach to treating halite over a number of years and now have an outstanding track-record of success in this application.
