Combating halite at a well in Pakistan

7 May 2025

We were back in Pakistan recently to help a new customer combat halite scaling in a gas well. This onshore well is a commingle producer from two reservoirs and was suffering from severe scale accumulation around the bottom hole. Build-up of halite was restricting flow, leading to frequent, repetitive remediation work. Water flushes were required every two months to keep the well flowing and each of these interventions added risk, downtime and deferred production.

As a new client that has never used our technology, the operator was keen to undertake a trial, which we always support. We began with an inhouse analysis to determine if the well was a suitable candidate, looking at well and site architecture, temperature, pressure, water chemistry and gas profiles and made recommendations on suitable approaches. The photos show the final installation with our small surface signaling unit and well connection point, which transmits radio frequency pulses down the well tubulars to control scale in the target zones.

We’re hoping to add this new client to our list of repeat customers that are already enjoying the benefits of improved flow assurance. If you’d like to join the ClearWELL club, or find out more, please get in touch on sales@clearwellenergy.com
